Death & Taxes: Sean Taylor’s Mother Losing It All
Donna Junor, mother of deceased former NFL player Sean Taylor is broken in more ways than one. Junor lost her son in 2007, when he tried to defend his home against burglars. Taylor did not have a will.
According to Junor, the money the estate went largely to his daughter, father, and a sister. Subsequently, she is suffering financial woes. During his career Sean purchased his mother a townhome and Mercedes Benz. The home is now set for foreclosure due to back taxes and homeowners fees.
Donna told the Washington Post,
“I’m not looking for a handout, but I just don’t think when you have a son in the NFL who was so progressive, his mother should end up this way, I don’t feel I should be left out in the cold like this.”
The family was divided before the untimely death of Sean Taylor. His father and mother had long parted ways. Largely, the genorosity of Taylor is what held the family together. He would often deliver large bags of money to his family. It is speculated that his acts of kindness lead to his death. Jason Scott Mitchell one of the accused assailants, was friends with Taylor’s sister Sasha Johnson. She reportedly showed Mitchell one of the bags of money she received from her brother.
The tragedy of Sean’s death is only worsened by the aftermath. It speaks as a true testament to the value of a will.
